HARROW TUITION SERVICE
10 Year 11 students left The Helix Education Centre in 2019/20 of whom:
78% now attend 'Further Education' settings.
11% now attending 'Training or Apprenticeships'
11% are currently 'NEET' (not in education, employment or training)
Our Year 11, and some Year 10, students are offered work experience through 'Work Experience Partners'. The experience involves taking on the role of a young worker and engaging in work tasks; using and developing work skills; being involved in work processes and experiencing work environments. It is an important part of work-related learning which allows the students to learn about the world of work.
In 2019/20, due to the COVID 19 pandemic pupils were unable to participate in work experience. However, in 2018/19 6 64% of students successfully completed work experince placements.
All Year 11 students are offered careers advice through 'Prospects'. Our careers adviser arranges careers interviews for all students attending the centre and any off-site students where this is not carried out as part of the alternative provision. The interviews are arranged for both during and out of school hours. If on-site is not appropriate, we arrange interviews at Harrow Youth Stop.
In 2019/20, 80% of Year 11 students took up the offer of, and attended, a careers interview.
