Primary Curriculum

 

 

Key Stage 1 and 2 Curriculum

Primary pupils follow a broad and enriched curriculum following the National Curriculum 2014.

Our aim is to address pupils’ barriers to learning to enable them to make academic progress.

 

 

PRIMARY Subjects Taught

Literacy:

We focus on reading and writing with pupils learning through short texts. Early readers learn phonics and all pupils are heard read daily.

Maths:

We focus on number and problem solving inclusive of place value, the four number operations and problem solving. Pupils are supported with equipment such as Base 10 Base 10 is the number system we use every day, where numbers are built using 10 digits (0–9) and each place value is 10 times bigger than the one before it. and practical activities including reading time.

Other subjects:

Pupils also learn PSHE, Science, History or Geography, Computing, Art or DT, Food Technology and PE.  Where possible, pupils learn through topics and links between subjects are made.

 

Other Information

Care is taken to maintain close links with parents/careers and associated educational providers.
