10 Year 11 students left The Helix Education Centre in 2019/20; see below for destinations:
All Year 11 students are offered careers advice through ‘Prospects’. Our careers adviser arranges careers interviews for all students attending the centre and any off-site students where this is not carried out as part of the alternative provision. The interviews are arranged for both during and out of school hours. If on-site is not appropriate, we arrange interviews at Harrow Youth Stop.
In 2019/20, 80% of Year 11 students took up the offer of and attended a careers interview.
Our Year 11, and some Year 10, students are offered work experience through ‘Work Experience Partners’. The experience involves taking on the role of a young worker and engaging in work tasks; using and developing work skills; being involved in work processes and experiencing work environments. It is an important part of work-related learning which allows the students to learn about the world of work.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic in 2019/20, none of our students were able to participate in work experience placements.
