Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to introduce myself as the new Interim Headteacher & Designated Safeguarding Lead at the Helix Education Centre, I will be covering whilst Mr Maselino and Jiten Patel are on leave from the centre.

It is both a privilege and a responsibility that I take very seriously, and I am excited to be working with you, your children, and our dedicated staff team. I have been a teacher for 24 years, working both in mainstream and Alternative Provision so have a unique perspective from different areas of education. Over the last 10 years I have led 3 different Alternative Provision Schools across London, Manchester and Buckinghamshire, developing my approach to supporting our children at a potentially challenging time in their lives.

The Helix Education Centre has a strong reputation for supporting young people to thrive in Harrow, often in the face of significant challenges. My priority will be to ensure that every student feels safe, respected, and motivated to succeed. I believe that learning is most effective when schools and families work in partnership, and I am committed to building strong, open communication with you. Our School values of Aspire, Study and Persevere are integral to how we work at the Helix and I am sure we can help shape a positive journey for your child while they are with us.

Over the coming weeks, I look forward to getting to know our students, staff, and families. I will be spending time in classrooms and around the centre to better understand the needs of our community. Please be assured that the wellbeing, progress, and future opportunities of your child will remain at the heart of every decision we make.
